Thank you for helping me put my finger on why a recent novel I read felt boring: though there was a great premise, interesting characters, and several seemingly exciting elements, those “exciting” things only happened around or to the main characters, not as a result of the characters’ choices or actions.

I will look out for this in my own writing!

As much as I hate reading a book I don't enjoy, it can be so helpful to identify what the problem is or what we don't like so we can avoid the same pitfalls in our own writing. Hope this helps as you write your own work!
